SLA Backcountry Caretakers

Description: SLA Caretakers are selected from the Student Conservation Association (SCA) Resource Assistant Program. Monitor backcountry camping and day use recreation on Moon and Bowman Islands and NEFFA Perform routine maintenance and trail work on the SLA's 50-mile trail network.
Qualifications: Must be 18 years of age or older. Good communication skills and strong work ethic are desired.
Compensation: $60 per week stipend and AmeriCorps education award of $1,000. Housing is available at Moon & Bowman Islands, Chamberlain-Reynolds Forest and SLA Resource Center.

SLA Resource Center Staff
Description: SLA Resource Center Staff work in the Boat Rental Department renting canoes, kayaks and sailboats to the public at the SLA Resource Center. Resource Center Staff take reservations, collect rental fees, issue boating equipment and teach basic boating skills. Resource Center Staff also perform facilities maintenance and monitor boat launching areas, including offering boating and invasive aquatic plant education.
Qualifications: Must be 18 years of age or older and have good communication skills. Kayaking, canoeing and sailing experience is desirable. CPR and First Aid are preferred.
Compensation: $280 - $440 per week, depending upon experience.
Dates: May 1 - Columbus Day
