Permanent Positions:

Office and Outreach Assistant
Description: Administrative and communication activities including, but not limited to, helping to manage the SLA gift store, preparing and distributing press releases and bulk mailings, managing SLA social media marketing accounts, work with staff and board to plan and run special events, coordinate volunteers.

Qualifications: Experience with microcomputer office systems, including database, graphics, word processing, web design and spreadsheet software applications.

Compensation: Depends on experience.

Schedule: Position to be filled by late-February. Subject to seasonal variation in schedule with more hours availabe in summer months and fewer in winter months.

JSLA Senior Counselors
Description: Lead Summer Youth Programs for children grades 3-12.  Co-lead a group of 10 campers with a Junior Counselor.  Monday-Friday sessions focus on Squam Area hiking, canoeing, kayaking and camping, with 1 overnight a week.  Older groups sometimes camp for 2 nights, occasionally out of the Squam Area.

Qualifications: Must be 21 years of age or older, able to drive, with good communication and teamwork skills.  Experience being responsible for youth in an outdoor setting is desirable.

Compensation: $400 - $440 per week, depending upon experience.  Housing is not available.

Dates: June 21st - August 13th 2010

SLA Ecological Intern
Description: The SLA Ecological Intern position focuses on environmental issues of concern in and around the Squam Lakes. Duties include water quality monitoring and working with SLA staff and volunteers to identify and remove the invasive aquatic plant variable milfoil. A heavy component of this position will lie in invasive plant control. Training Provided.

Qualifications: Must have a valid drivers license, must be comfortable swimming and snorkeling, SCUBA certification preferred, NH Boating License preferred, CPR and First Aid preferred but can be provided.

Compensation: $8-$9 per hour, depending on experience.

SLA Trail Crew Leader
Description: The SLA Trail Crew Leader supervises four-person Student Conservation Association (SCA) trail crews in trail maintenance and reconstruction. The trail crew constructs waterbars, stairs, retaining walls, step stones, bog bridges, and trail relocations.

Qualifications:
Must be 21 years of age or older and have previous trail maintenance experience. Good communication skills and strong work ethic are desired. Wilderness First Responder certification and SCA Work Skills training are preferred.

Compensation:
$320 - $500 per week, depending upon experience. Housing is available.

Dates:
Mid-August - Mid-November

SLA Trail Crew
Description: SLA's trail crew performs trail construction and maintenance on the 50-mile trail network. The trail crew constructs waterbars, stairs, retaining walls, step stones, bog bridges, and trail relocations.

Compensation:
$60 per week stipend and AmeriCorps education award of $1,000. Housing is available.

SLA Backcountry Care Takers
Description: SLA Caretakers are selected from the Student Conservation Association (SCA) Resource Assistant Program. Monitor backcountry camping and day use recreation on Moon and Bowman Islands and NEFFA Perform routine maintenance and trail work on the SLA's 50-mile trail network.

Qualifications:
Must be 18 years of age or older. Good communication skills and strong work ethic are desired.

Compensation:
$60 per week stipend and AmeriCorps education award of $1,000. Housing is available at Moon & Bowman Islands, Chamberlain-Reynolds Forest and SLA Resource Center.

Dates:
End of May - Mid-August
