Weed Watchers
SLA needs Weed Watchers to help monitor the spread of invasive plants like variable milfoil.
Water Quality Monitoring
Volunteers for this NH Lakes Lay Monitoring Program collect and filter water samples, weekly from early June through Labor Day.
Trail Adopters
Trail Adopters help SLA in maintaining 50+ miles of hiking trails in the Squam Lakes lowlands and highlands. Volunteers adopt a trail, survey its condition in the spring and fall, and assist with light maintenance such as clearing debris from water bars and trimming vegetation. Adopters submit a trail report each time they hike their trail.
Visitors’ Assistants
Volunteers are needed to greet summer visitors at the SLA Resource Center, answer questions and help with ‘The Store’.
Waterfowl Census
SLA and Loon Preservation Committee volunteers have been counting waterfowl on the 3rd Saturday of July, since 1971.
Office Mailings
Volunteers are needed to help with occasional bulk mailings.
Boat Counts
Help take a census of the static and moving boats on the Squam Lakes, twice a summer.
