Woody Thompson of the Maine Geological Survey will be presenting "The Ice Age in New Hampshire’s White Mountains”. Woody will present his research that recently went to print in a new book on White Mountain Geology. Woody Thompson grew up in Holderness, NH. He attended Holderness School and majored in geology at Dartmouth College. Since receiving his doctorate from Ohio State University, Woody has worked for the Maine Geological Survey. He is a member of the SLA, and contributed information on his family and local geology to the “Squam” book. Woody’s talk at SLA will describe the legacy of the Ice Age in the White Mountains (a subject that he has researched for many years). He’s co-author of the new book titled “The Geology of New Hampshire’s White Mountains” – the first ever published on this topic – and will talk about recent discoveries in that part of the state.This free program will be held at the SLA Resource Center, 534 Route 3 in Holderness.
