The Squam Lakes were the first in the state of New Hampshire to conduct a loon census, and to have a biologist on the lakes full time. The result is the longest, most complete study of loons in the world. The Loon Preservation Committee's Executive Director, Harry Vogel adds, "This record becomes more valuable with each passing year. The Loon Preservation Committee is glad be working with the Squam Lakes Association, and have its assistance in continuing this valuable study.
