The Squam Lakes Association depends on volunteer support for many of its programs. Below is a listing of programs which need volunteer help. Please get involved with the Squam Lakes community - contact SLA @ (603) 968-7336 or E-Mail: info@squamlakes.org

Weed Watchers Program SLA needs Weed Watchers to manage the spread of invasive plants like variable milfoil.

Water Quality Monitoring volunteers for the NH Lay Lakes Monitoring Program, a weekly program from early June through Labor Day. There are 12 deep water sites on the Squam Lakes and weekly time commitment is two hours.

Trail Adopters SLA Volunteer Trail Adopters maintain sections of hiking trails in the mountains of the Squam Lakes Range. Duties include inspecting the trail in the spring and fall, raking debris from the water bars, and brushing out vegetation. Adopters complete a trail report each time they hike their trail.

Volunteer Trail Work Join SLA on National Trails Day - Saturday June 5 - and NH Trails Day - July 17 - to meet cool outdoorsy people and give back to the trails.

JSLA Volunteers are needed to help with JSLA registration on Monday and Friday mornings for about two hours. The program begins on June 30 and runs through August 8.

SLA Resource Center and The Store Volunteers will greet the public from Friday through Monday during the summer at the visitors center and help with "The Store". Time commitment is 2 hours a day.

Community Youth Sailing Program Volunteers are needed for the CYSP registration on Monday and Friday mornings for about 2 hours. The CYSP runs from June 30 through August 8.

Wildlife Committee Volunteers have been collecting loon data for the past 24 years in conjuction with the SLA and the Loon Preservation Committee. Volunteers interested in helping with the Squam Lakes Wildlife Census should contact Peter Sorlein at (781) 631-5956.

Office Mailings Volunteers are needed to help with bulk mailings.

Auxiliary Marine Patrol Help monitor the boating laws on the Squam Lakes as a member of the Auxiliary Patrol during the summer. You must have your own boat.

Squam Lakes Boat Counts Help to count the number of boats, both static and moving on Squam Lakes by joining the Boat Count.

Monitor the Light Buoys Keep an eye on the light buoys of Squam to ensure boating safety.
