11th Annual Hike for the Trails

On Saturday July 23rd, SLA will host the annual Hike for the Trails event. Hike for the Trails is a hike-a-thon that supports SLA trail maintenance on over 50 miles of trails in the Squam and Sandwich Ranges. oth local and from afar Funds raised from Hike for the Trails go directly to support the SLA trail crew and local volunteers, who work tirelessly to keep our trails beautiful and to protect the surrounding environment.
Hike for the Trails offers a wonderful outing for hikers of all abilities. Enjoy scenic hiking and be inspired by the knowledge that you are giving back to the trails that keep so many visitors coming back to Squam year after year. This is also a wonderful opportunity to say thank you to landowners who graciously allow hikers access to their property. All Hike for the Trails participants should meet at the Mt. Morgan trailhead at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 23rd. There are a variety of routes from which to choose:
Beginner Hike: Two mile round-trip up West Rattlesnake
Intermediate Hike: Five mile loop summiting Mt Morgan and Mt Percival
Expert Hike: Just over nine miles from Cotton Mountain to Mt Morgan via the Crawford Ridgepole Trail
Participants who raise over $25 in pledges will receive a free event T-shirt, and could win prizes from Merrell, The North Face and Mountaineer Books. So come spend some time outdoors with the folks at SLA! Your participation will keep our trails beautiful for generations to come.
