Boat Use on Squam
The Squam Lakes Association has studied boating use on Squam since 1988. From 1988-2014, boat counts were carried out through a volunteer-driven on-the-water boat censuses. Aerial surveys ran in 2014 through 2017. We conducted a static survey in 2018.
- To learn more about the results of the boat census, read the Squam Watershed Report.

Squam Keepers Program
During the summer months the Squam Lakes Association conducts the Squam Keepers program in order to increase SLA presence on the lake, make observations on shoreline development, and track lake activity. These records serve as important qualitative indicators of lake health and note the weather conditions, water clarity, boating traffic, wildlife activity, human activity, and shoreline activity.
