All sailing programs are canceled for the summer of 2020.
Community Sailing Program
Come sail with us! We embrace the three "S's" of sailing: Stewardship, Sportsmanship and Skills here on Squam. Throughout the year the Squam Lakes Association offers ways for sailors to connect, strengthen their skills, and enjoy the sport of sailing.
CYSP: Community Youth Sailing Program is our renowned instructional program for young sailors which starts at the basic level and builds up to racing skills.
Community Sailing Topic Talks: These talks bring together folks interested in sailing to discuss a new topic each month. If you would like to lead a talk please contact Leigh Ann Reynolds, Director of Education.
Adult Sailing: Enjoy an evening of sailing on Tuesdays during the summer. The first 20 minutes of the program introduces and reviews our equipment and sailing safety. This program is designed for anyone interested in sailing from beginners to intermediate. Group size is limited to eight with the opportunity to sail in a variety of small lake boats from our sunfish, capri, to FJ. Click here for dates and to register.
Private Sailing Lessons: Want to take your sailing to the next level or are you looking for an introduction to sailing? Private lessons with our lead sailing instructor are a wonderful way to hone your sailing skills. $50/hour for one person, $80/hour for two, and $90/hour for three. If you are interested in private lessons contact Leigh Ann Reynolds, Director of Education.
Evening Sails: Volunteer led evening sails are a great way to learn the basics of sailing, enjoy an evening on the water, and meet others interested in sailing. Dates and times will be posted as volunteers sign up.
New Hampshire Boat Museum Opportunities: The SLA is excited to partner with the New Hampshire Boat Museum (NHBM). SLA members receive discounts on their boat building classes and NHBM members receive discounts on Adult Sailing and CYSP. For more information contact Leigh Ann Reynolds, Director of Education.
Awesome opportunity for intermediate - advanced sailing students ages 12-16 years old to sail around Penobscot Bay July 26th-August 1st 2020!
A fantastic opportunity for youth sailors who are interested in furthering their skills. This field trip will take place over the course of 7 days on a 53′ Amel Super Maramu offshore cruising sailboat, sailing out of Rockport, Maine. The voyage will consist of sailing around Penobscot Bay, exploration of islands on foot, and crewing on the boat. This opportunity has been generously donated to NHBM, which means there is no cost to participate.
Our Community Sailing Program relies heavily on volunteers so if you are interested in sharing your passion for sailing, your skills, and your knowledge please contact our volunteer coordinator. We are always looking for folks to help maintain our fleet, teach evening sailing classes, and assist at special events like the much loved Around the Lake Race.
