Location: Meet at the SLA, located at 534 US Rt. 3 in Holderness. Click Here for a Google Map. We will head to Mt. Morgan Trail trailhead from SLA.
About the Day: Now that the high heat of summer is behind us, it's time to take out the hiking gear, hit the trail and enjoy the cooler temps. Over the next few months, there will be a hike scheduled each week. This is a great opportunity to learn about the Squam Ranger program, meet other folks interested in hiking, and enjoy a day out on the trail. The Morgan/Percival Loop is just under 5 miles with outstanding views of Squam. We will start at the Mt. Morgan Trail and folks have the option of climbing up rock ladders & through a boulder cave to get to the top or you can avoid the ladders by taking a side trail up. After soaking up the views we'll hike along the Crawford-Ridgepole Trail to Mt. Percival for more views. On the decent there is another option to go through boulder caves and then after descending we will take the Morse trail back to the Mt. Morgan trail head. Hike as much or as little as you'd like. Timing is hard to predict since it depends on the hikers so we may end a bit earlier or go later. Folks are welcome to hike at their own pace as this is not intended to be a guided hike.
Since hikes are weather dependent, we will contact those who have signed up if any changes to plans arise.
What to Bring: Hikers should bring appropriate clothing, water, and food.
