Location: Meet at the SLA, located at 534 US Rt. 3 in Holderness. Click Here for a Google Map. We will head to Doublehead Trail trailhead from SLA.
About the Day: Now that the high heat of summer is behind us, it's time to take out the hiking gear, hit the trail and enjoy the cooler temps. Over the next few months, there will be a hike scheduled each week. This is a great opportunity to learn about the Squam Ranger program, meet other folks interested in hiking, and enjoy a day out on the trail. This hike starts at the Doublehead Trail trailhead located off of Thompson Road and is roughly 5 miles roundtrip. We will make our way up the old skidder road and climb some steep pitches to the Crawford Ridgepole Trail where we will check out the view from Doublehead and then then hike on to Mt. Squam. We will pass Uncle Paul's Potholes just before reaching the summit. After soaking up the views and enjoying lunch we will retrace our steps back to the trailhead. Hike as much or as little as you'd like. Timing is hard to predict since it depends on the hikers so we may end a bit earlier or go later. Folks are welcome to hike at there own pace as this is not intended to be a guided hike.
Since hikes are weather dependent, we will contact those who have signed up if any changes to plans arise.
What to Bring: Hikers should bring appropriate clothing, water, and food.
