Join us in celebrating conservation and community throughout the Squam Watershed!
The Squam Lakes Conservation Society (SLCS) turns 60 this year! To celebrate we want to see if we can get the entire Squam community to switch off all lights (indoor & outdoor!) for 60 minutes in honor of the last 60 years of conserving land in the area. Conservation is a community effort, so this is a way for ALL of us to celebrate this milestone, wherever you may be! So on Saturday, August 15th at 9 pm, turn off the lights with us and enjoy the magnificent, moon-lit beauty of our watershed.
Want to do something fun outside during the 60-minutes of darkness? We'll be posting tips on night photography, identifying owl calls, finding constellations, telling the temperature by counting cricket chirps, and more in the weeks leading up to the event!
