New Research on Squam Lake

Plymouth State University graduate student Melanie Perello, along with her faculty advisor Lisa Doner, is working on an in-depth study of Ossipee Lake and Squam Lake.  This project through the PSU's Center for the Environment involves community partners including the Green Mountain Conservation Group and the Squam Lakes Association.

The project has three major components:

1) Ongoing monitoring of water temperature and sedimentation through in situ moorings at the deep spot

2) Water sampling at each lake weekly during the summer and monthly during the winter

3) Sediment analyses to determine past climate and water quality conditions
