Special Thanks to Adel Barnes!

After two years as the Squam Lakes Association's Communications and Outreach Coordinator, Adel Barnes is leaving us. Adel is hoping to break into the aquaculture industry and is currently spending some needed time with family and appreciating the winterscapes of New Hampshire. For the past two years, Adel has been the voice of the SLA. She was behind the Loon Flyer, the Annual Reports, social media, and the email newsletters. She was the volunteer coordinator for not only our Winterfest and Squam Ridge Race events, but for Weed Watchers, Trail Adopters, and all of the other volunteer opportunities the SLA provides.

Adel was a member of our Lakes Region Conservation Corps prior to joining the staff; she knew the SLA well and took full advantage of all of the training that was offered. When 2020 hit, and milfoil dive training wasn’t possible – Adel jumped in (literally) and did a lot of diving to continue the SLA’s trend of mitigating the milfoil invasion.

Adel has been a wonderful and dedicated coworker, and we will miss her!
