The Squam Lakes Conservation Society will be joining us to talk about the importance of the highlands in the Squam Watershed. The Squam Uplands Initiative establishes a framework for the protection of the large tracts of land lying above 900' in elevation, an area larger that the eight lakes in the Squam watershed. The Uplands contain the headwaters of Squam's tributaries, the viewpoints from the trail network, the majority of our working forests, and the watershed's largest blocks of unfragmented habitat. Roger Larochelle from the Squam Lakes Conservation Society will be describing the case for prioritizing the protection of these lands and the strategies for their permanent protection. Join us at the Squam Lakes Association, 534 US Route 3, Holderness, NH at 7pm. This program is free and open to the public.
