US Sailing Counselor Course June 8th & 9th at the SLA

US Sailing is hosting a Sailing Counselor Course at the Squam Lakes Association on June 8th & June 9th.

US Sailing’s Sailing Counselor Course prepares camp counselors and junior sailing staff to supervise small boat recreational sailing activities typically conducted on sheltered and protected waters. The emphasis is on safety and hands-on practice to familiarize candidates with proper terminology and boating techniques. Sailing Counselor training will also provide a model for counselors who may structure actual sailing activities. While this course does not offer a certification, it does offer detailed training to help Counselors teach sailing.

Who Should take this course: Anyone involved with a camp counseling, sailing, or scouting program.

Prerequisites: Basic sailing experience. Must turn 14 within the calendar year.

Course length: 2 days, 20 hours.

Materials used: Learn Sailing Right! Beginner Sailing, Sailing Smart Activity Book & Instructor’s Handbook

Course Fee: $190 if received more than four (4) weeks prior to course start date; $200 if received within four (4) weeks of course start date; $215 if received within one (1) week of course start date
